Our Motto:

"Changing and Enriching Lives…
Where Tomorrow Begins Today!"

This is what drives us to continue providing lasting impact to our communities local and abroad.
Our History
1978

Taproots was founded in 1978 by Sister Monica Cahill, BVM, and incorporated as a
not-for-profit organization in 1979 in the State of Illinois. The agency received its IRS 501(c)(3)
not-for-profit status in 1980.

Our organization began with a bold vision to provide exceptional services and foster community values. This foundational period set the stage for our enduring legacy.

New Horizons
1990's

During the 1990's,
Taproots shifted from its initial primary services to providing social and educational outreach &
prevention, life skills, parenting, youth development, cultural arts, and community engagement programs.

As we grew, we focused on upgrading facilities, expanding programs, and enhancing community offerings to reach a broader and more diverse community.

Leading the Way
2025

Our current focus is on maintaining excellence in our programs while honoring our rich traditions, ensuring we continue to shape the future of our people.
